TAXI Hi Yasunari, thanks for being with us today! Could you introduce yourself to us, and share with us what you are working on right now ?

Yasunari I am now working on some stories for a new fashion magazine which focuses on young and new fashion artists. I am also doing some editorial shoots for Vogue Nippon and Harper's Bazaar, as well as some commercial projects.

TAXI In spite of your status as an international fashion photographer, you seem to be a very private and mysterious person – you don't mention very much about yourself on your personal site as well. Is that the case, and could you share with us why ?

Yasunari Hmmmm, I have never really thought about that. I feel that my biography isn't so important, thats why I made my website really simple. I just wanted to show my works, thats all.

TAXI I understand that you only seriously picked up photography after your visit to Paris. What was it about Paris that inspired you to do so?

Yasunari Everything. The atmosphere, people, culture and art. Paris is the center of fashion!

TAXI How did you start off your career in photography? What were you working as before you started off as a photographer?

Yasunari I was a student, but I met a great photographer in Paris, and then I had chance to be his assistant, shooting for Vogue Italia, which impacted my life greatly.

TAXI Tell us about your first big break.

Yasunari Hmmm, this is a tough question. But I have to say that meeting that photographer changed my life. When I was 23 years old, my first project for Vogue Nippon with a super celebrity, who was Victoria Beckham, was also one of the many projects that affected me.

TAXI If you weren't a fashion photographer, what do you think you would be doing today?

Yasunari I think maybe I would have become a Chef.

TAXI We understand that you travel frequently. Which are your favourite cities to shoot in ?

Yasunari My favourite city to shoot in is New York. But most of time, I like to shoot in the photo studio.

TAXI What do you do in your free time to keep yourself inspired? What are your other hobbies besides photography?

Yasunari Unfortunately, I don't have a hobby. I usually sleep, go partying and have a few drinks. I also like to look at art books too.
