CALL FOR ENTRIES

Deadline: 18 July 2008

onedotzero is critically acclaimed for being at the leading edge of the international contemporary moving image and associated digital arts scene; a highly regarded, visionary organisation that commissions, showcases and promotes innovation across all aspects of moving image, digital and interactive arts.

onedotzero festival is a visual ideas lab revealing future directions in motion, featuring new and specifically commissioned works; liberating talent to present new moving image possibilities and encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration across all aspects of moving image and other complementary artforms.

onedotzero international festivals have visited over 120 cities in over 40 countries worldwide: reaching a huge and burgeoning digital arts audience, providing a high profile platform for creative talents to gain global recognition for their work, and also a framework to explore the rich sub-culture that surrounds and complements the audio-visual industry and arts scene.

onedotzero is now extending an international call for submissions to receive visually progressive moving image work for their 2008/09 global touring festival. onedotzero’s open submissions scheme is one of the few that remains free to enter, enabling the best up-and-coming talent from around the globe to be presented alongside world-leading creative luminaries.

This year’s ambitious programme will bring the best of previous programme strands alongside new categories and activities based on the theme of ‘citystates’, which will engage audiences, industry and media with an in-depth exploration of city life, insights and culture.

‘More people than ever before are living in cities bringing with it a greater socio-cultural mix, sense of movement and transition than previously experienced. Now more than ever it is important to understand and interact with the broad spectrum of what the city offers us - how we inhabit it, how we engage with its’ cultural make up, and how we view and influence its’ future.’

---Shane Walter, CEO / Creative Director, onedotzero

    NEW BOOK RELEASE

Following the success of the previous titles in the Art series, Logo-Art showcases an international collection of exemplary and innovative logo design.

The book examines logos both as two-dimensional designs and also in their three-dimensional contexts, exploring both the creative inspiration and the logistics behind the work. Each chapter covers a particular industry–travel and tourism, food and drink, music and entertainment, fashion and lifestyle, charities and services, etc.-and discusses the specific requirements for logos in that sector.

With the help of insightful interviews with designers, alongside inspiring visuals, Logo-Art examines the use of color, artwork, and typography to achieve successful logo design.
