Longchamp is delighted to announce the opening in May 2006 of La Maison Unique Longchamp, the new mooring for the brand in the USA, downtown SoHo, New York. Longchamp's one hundredth boutique worldwide as well as its new professional trade showroom is housed spectacularly on a surface area of more than 9,000 square feet. It will offer the full line of women's and men's fashion accessories.
The sheer volume of this 1936 building, its wide-open, single room spaciousness with high ceilings and unique structural details immediately struck the Cassegrain family, who have run the French luxury brand since its inception in 1948. Ideally located in the heart of SoHo on the corner of Spring and Greene Streets, the space is SoHo's only two-story building. Longchamp entrusted its interior design to the creative eye of London designer Thomas Heatherwick. The volume of the space is brilliantly and innovatively characterized with touches of humor here and there and is in perfect harmony with the key brand values of Longchamp: chic, creativity, pleasure, appealingly fresh. As stated by Philippe Cassegrain, CEO of Longchamp, "This project is in no way a new sales concept to be deployed the world over, It is, however, a unique architectural ensemble to be appreciated as a one-of-a-kind event."
Heatherwick is known for his unconventional lines, shapes and engineering challenges and his designs are often perceived to be more sculptural than architectural. The boutique's exceptional corner location allows for the perimeter of the building to be lined with windows, tall and wide, and capturing a plethora of natural light that spreads throughout the entire space. The third floor will house the Longchamp showroom and feature a garden terrace.
Established in Paris in 1948 as a maker of fine leather products, the Longchamp brand has been on US soil since 1993. The brand is currently sold at many high-end luxury specialty and freestanding stores around the world. The flagship La Maison Unique Longchamp will be located at 132 Spring Street in New York's fashionable SoHo.
The Reel Production: A Calendar Program for Film and Television Comes of Age
08 Jun 2006
Reel Logix, Inc. announces the new 3.3 version of The Reel Production Calendar, the market leading calendar software designed for Film, Television and Live Action productions.
The Reel Production Calendar is the innovative calendar software program designed for managing Pre-Production, Production, and Post Production activities for various departments at the studio and production level.
Randy McGowan, CEO of Reel Logix, had the following to say about the origins of The Reel Production Calendar, the new release and the future of the product.
"When we founded Reel Logix, Inc. in 2002, there was a lot of pressure from within the industry for us to create a new scheduling breakdown program, mostly due to the team's experience of working on Movie Magic Scheduling, and my history with SSI for many years. Although we seriously considered it, there were several companies already working to address this issue for the industry. After interviewing hundreds of people in production and observing work flow processes, the theme that consistently emerged was the need for a calendaring solution. The Reel Production Calendar was developed and launched out of that need in January, 2004".
"The program was designed and has evolved to not only address the limitations of traditional calendars, but also has many industry specific features like importing from Movie Magic and EP Scheduling; the ability to auto count weeks for tracking Prep, Shoot, Avid Weeks, and Director's Edit weeks as well as automatically skip Hiatus weeks" says Philip Robinson, CTO and co-founder. Current users of Reel Production Calendar consistently speak to incredible time saving features that have significantly reduced the number of production hours spent cutting and pasting in traditional calendars.
The new 3.3 release has many new features including improved filtering capabilities, new sharing and collaboration functionality, the ability to auto-skip days off when creating events and the capability to easily generate web calendars for distributed work environments.
Reel Logix plans to continue the practice of incorporating valuable client feedback as new features are added. The team at Reel Logix, Inc is proud to say that this is the eight free update of the software -to existing customers- and plans two additional releases later this year. New feature ideas from current and future users as well as industry partners guarantees that Reel Logix, Inc. will continue to move the software in a very exciting direction.
The Reel Production Calendar is currently being used widely in Film and Television Productions worldwide and is available at the website.
