With limited medical supplies amid the coronavirus outbreak, many brands have stepped up to make up for the shortage. These include companies like New Balance, LVMH and Chanel. Now, IKEA has joined in to help out the medical community.
The Swedish giant will start producing full N95 respirators, as opposed to the general cotton-and-paper-based face masks manufactured by other companies, per Reuters.
According to experts, the common face masks are still helpful in filtering out viruses for the mass population. However, the respirators are proven to be the best option out there.
IKEA plans to send out at least 900,000 respirators this week, and aims to produce around a million per week for the following three weeks.
Along with the respirators, IKEA will be providing other necessary tools—such as hand sanitizers, visors and aprons—to healthcare facilities for free.
