KFC has launched a tongue-in-cheek ad as it prepares to reopen restaurants for delivery and takeaway after lockdown restrictions were lifted in the UK.
The fast-food chain announced in the commercial that it “is back” and reopening its outlets, sharing with customers that it has “missed them too.” The clip displays food photos from patrons who have attempted to recreate KFC’s finger lickin’ chicken with varying degrees of success.
The campaign, created by advertising agency Mother, shows photos of people’s KFC efforts along a background track of Céline Dion’s dramatic All By Myself. “We’ll take it from here,” KFC UK & Ireland later declares.
The photos of KFC copycats were taken from the fast-food chain’s ‘#RateMyKFC’ campaign, where people were encouraged to make their best versions of its fried chicken and share them online for KFC to critique—or shame.
KFC UK & Ireland marketing director Jack Hinchliffe said, “We’ve loved seeing the nation’s homemade efforts whilst we’ve been away, so including a few of them in our new ad is the perfect tribute.”
“Some of the creations looked incredible, some less so. Now that we’re back on delivery, probably best we take it from here,” he continued.
