If you can’t travel, how about moving your social bubble out to sea? This stunning four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom floating mansion with all-around water views in Miami could get you there. The catch? It costs a pretty US$5.5 million to purchase the house.
According to the New York Post, the buoyant villa off the coast of Miami’s Palm Island was previously available to rent for US$2,500 per night via Airbnb-like platform Vrbo, but had to be taken down due to overwhelming response.
The structure, which developer Arkup describes to be a “livable yacht,” measures at 2,700 square feet, including over 1,500 square feet of terraces. Its exterior sports white wood paneling and floor-to-ceiling windows.
A retractable terrace slides out to offer ample lounging space. There’s also a platform that descends into the water, so anyone on board can swim in the sea or hop onto another boat.
Its roof collects rainwater and is constructed with solar panels, allowing the villa to be self-sustaining with solar energy and purified water.
While the penthouse-like boat would be perfect for anyone wishing to live off the grid, it’s also built with a smart communications system with satellite TV and Wi-Fi antennas, LTE, and VHF for those who need to stay connected.
For safety, the vessel is anchored with leg-like structures at the bottom, and is designed to withstand Category 4 or 5 hurricanes.
The livable yacht might remain a dream for many, but the house tour below could allow you to live out this fantasy for a bit.
