Every year, Sports Illustrated magazine makes headlines with its famed Swimsuit Issue. This year, it kicked things off with an inclusive runway show, held at South Beach’s Mondrian Hotel.
Like most glamor magazines, Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue often features supermodels with tall and thin-framed bodies. However, in the recent years, the publication has made changes to diversify its model lineup, including more body shapes and sizes.
According to The Hill, in 2016, the magazine featured plus-size model Ashley Graham on its cover for the first time. In 2019, soccer player Megan Rapinoe became the first openly gay woman to appear in the issue, too.
This year, the issue’s models includes athletes, models, entrepreneurs, students, moms, and women from all walks of life. Notably, 57-year-old model Kathy Jacobs was invited to walk the runway, along with plus-size model Gabriella Halikas, actress Saje Nicole, and personal chef Chelsea Heath.
Take a look at the stunning lineup below.
