LG’s new addition to its OLED TV ecosystem is the OLED R, featuring an ultra-thin screen that rolls itself up and tucks away with a single push of a button.
There are three heights that the display rolls out to: a full view to enjoy your content in its full size; a line view, which rolls the screen down into a minimal row with music, clock, frame, mood lighting and sounds, or home dashboard displays; and a zero view, which tucks the display out of sight entirely and transforms it into a Dolby Atmos sound system complete with powerful 100W 4.2ch speakers.
This rolling technology is thanks to OLED technology, which operates on an individual-pixel basis rather than the LED backlights that we’re more used to.
The TV also integrates Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and ThinQ AI technology. When a customer places an order, the LG Signature Concierge Service offers full guidance through the order placement to delivery process, and all inquiries are addressed real-time via web chat, telephone, and email. And when the precious cargo is delivered to your doorstep, white glove delivery and installation services grant a seamless set-up experience.
It’s all good and well and honestly pretty cool, but the catch? It costs US$100,000. Alternatively, the equivalent to just shy of 77 55-inch TVs from LG’s OLED range, priced at US1,299.
“We’re continuously exploring new concepts that will not only expand our brand ecosystem, but also push industry boundaries to satisfy the growing needs of our customers," said Peggy Ang, senior vice president of marketing at LG Electronics USA. “The OLED R is an evolution of our OLED technology that illustrates our passion, dedication and imagination as we usher in a new era of design.”
