Ever wondered about your favorite Disney park rides? The new Disney+ series, Behind the Attraction, has debuted, and it might just have the answers to your questions.
Produced by Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia and Brian Volk-Weiss, the series takes viewers behind the scenes of Disney Imagineers who dreamed up the well-loved attractions and rides that populate the parks today. Plus, it’s narrated by Paget Brewster, the voice of Della Duck on DuckTales (2017).
“You can go into the park and still experience the rides and have a great time but if you want to know how it was made, it’ll knock your socks off, it is really mind-boggling,” Jeanette Lomboy, Disney’s Executive Imagineer, told ABC7.
Each episode focuses on a different attraction, starting this week off with crowd favorites such as Star Tours, the Haunted Mansion, and Space Mountain. At around 42 minutes each, the history and development of each attraction is explored, including clips from old shows like Disneyland (1955) , news segments, and interviews.
Although it’s similar to the docu-series The Imagineering Story, which is also already on Disney+, it’s also different in the way that the former is more chronological, while episodes of Behind the Attraction focus on individual attractions and can be enjoyed in any order the viewer likes.
“From the 1950s to today, from Jungle Cruise to ‘It’s a Small World’ to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Disney Parks attractions have amazed millions,” the website writes. “And this is the story of how they did it.”
