Reports have recently emerged that Apple could be facing a major class-action lawsuit over its newest MacBook line.
According to Input, law firm Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is gathering owners of M1 MacBooks and MacBook Airs whose devices have had screen cracks out of the blue.
This isn’t the first time the cracks have been brought up. In fact, in August, many users had already tried to bring this issue to the brand’s attention.
Many complaints of a similar nature have also been spotted on the company’s Support Communities, as well as Reddit threads, suggesting the laptops suddenly developed large cracks and lines of dead pixels.
At times, Apple has replaced some of the devices for free, though most customers have had to pay for their repairs, as per 9to5Mac.
“Many suspect that the display is simply not sturdy enough to withstand the normal pressures of opening, closing, or adjusting its position,” Migliaccio & Rathod said in a statement addressing the lawsuit.
“Whatever the case, users are left with little choice but to spend upwards of US$600 to have their display repaired, with no guarantee that the screen crack defect won’t reoccur at a later date.”
