These are rocky times, and they call for a dose of optimism.
Apple has swooped in just in time with a tutorial to design your own animated inspiration board or, as it calls it, a “mantra collage,” as part of its ongoing Creative Projects series. Leading the process is mixed-media artist Quentin Jones, who has a knack for creating graffiti-style collages.
To get started, all you’ll need is an iPad. And an Apple Pencil, but that’s optional. You’ll also be working on the free, built-in Keynote app, Apple’s answer to Microsoft PowerPoint.
Once you have your iPad in your hands, the first step is to find inspiration. Swipe through your camera roll and look out for faces, objects, and textures that “spark joy.” They’ll serve as the muses for your mantra collage.
The iPad’s Split View mode makes it easy to drag and drop pictures in the Keynote app.

Next, take a glance at your gathered imagery and pen down any hopeful words that spring to mind. These will form your mantra—none of that “Live Laugh Love” stuff, unless that’s your thing.
Jones goes on to demonstrate how to cut the photos into shapes, remove negative space, and further adorn your collage. You can check out the six-minute tutorial below.
Sometimes, all it takes for your mood to turn around is a creative outlet. We hope getting into the motion of crafting an inspiration piece will give you that temporary perk you need.
