Bill Gates Reveals His Old Résumé From Before His Big Career Break

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has divulged what trying to find a job was like for him back in his college days by sharing an old résumé from 48 years ago—a welcome insight into the beginnings of the career of one of the most successful people today.
The young Gates, self-declared to be five feet and 10 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds, also disclosed his salary to be US$12,000, an impressive figure for any college freshman. His height and weight have been a point of fascination as it is not customary to share such details these days.
Following that stand the makings of a normal résumé. Gates stated that he was an Honors student who scored straight A’s in his subjects at his first year in Harvard College. Famously, he would later drop out of college to begin Microsoft.
The résumé also gives a glimpse of an earlier project he had done with his future co-founder Paul Allen, outlining a system that studied the movement of traffic to better assist traffic engineers.
Gates furthered: “Whether you’re a recent grad or a college dropout, I’m sure your resume looks a lot better than mine did 48 years ago”—seeking to inspire not only future Bill Gates but also the everyday person who, no matter where they are in their professional journey, could look to his past for hope that things will work out.
