Delta Air Lines Opens Free Stock Image Bank Featuring People Of Color On Travels
By Nicole Rodrigues, 02 Sep 2022
Representation in travel is often sidelined as people of color usually missing in travel advertisements. Delta Air Lines is looking to rectify that and reminding people that everyone goes on vacation.
The airline is partnering with Adobe Stock and Kin, a creative agency centered on driving social change through culture, to create a library focused solely on Black and brown travelers.
The project, called Faces of Travel, was taken by photographer Seo Ju Park, who has managed to capture the joys of exploring unfamiliar places abroad.
The photos depict both solo travelers and groups of friends partaking in activities from mountain climbing to sipping wine while riding down a canal. Diverse couples and people with various mobility issues are also lensed to bring recognition while encouraging everyone to venture out into the world.
Delta and Adobe are offering the images to be used for free on social media, and for content creation and advertising.
The gallery is another step in Delta’s quest to help diversify the travel landscape. It previously partnered with the Atlanta Global Research and Education Collaborative (AGREC) and six colleges in 2021 to provide opportunities for students of color to study overseas.
Journeying overseas broadens the mind and is something that everyone can benefit from. However, when certain groups are constantly underrepresented, it can harm a community and push stereotypes onto people. The imagery may seem inconsequential, but eventually, it could open up the conversation to something much bigger where society is ready to change the way we perceive travel.
