Sony Makes Online ‘Creator’s Cloud’ Tools Available To Individuals For Free

If you use a Sony camera or own a compatible account, you might be pleased to know that the company is rolling out its professional cloud-based tools for individual or small teams of content creators. The web suite—introduced in September last year—was previously exclusive to enterprise users and those in the media and entertainment sectors, but a curated version of it is now here to simplify the uploading, editing, sharing, and networking process for everyday creatives.
With Creators’ Cloud, Sony envisages the cloud to be just as crucial as the camera. The tech giant says creators can harness the convenience of the cloud to work seamlessly with their hardware—enabling immediate photo and video transfers, quick edits, and fast collaborative work. For instance, it says you could upload content and have it accessed from multiple devices without any hassle.
Creators’ Cloud, available online at no cost, includes 25 GB of free cloud storage for select Sony camera owners and 5 GB of free cloud space for anybody with a Sony account, allowing users to make file uploads from their gear to their phone and cloud. The initial version also offers remote camera control, says Sony.
A key feature on the platform is Sony’s online video editing software Master Cut, currently available in beta version, that’s driven by artificial intelligence to enable image stabilizations, sound noise reduction and audio level optimization, automatic grouping of similar clips, and multi-device access. “Master Cut will give users a quick, easy, and high-quality pre-editing of video content before transferring to an NLE (Non-linear Editing Software) tool,” explains the company.
Another standout app is Ci Media Cloud, a “well-established online creative collaboration” service that presently supports over 150,000 professionals. With the software, creative teams can jump on media files to organize or work on them from anywhere on any device.
Sony’s Creators’ Cloud also offers a social networking aspect called Discover, its community that lets independent creators showcase their work and discover each other’s content for inspiration or networking opportunities. Photos and videos on this platform will be tagged with details like the photographer’s location, the camera and lens model used, the picture’s settings, and more so that creatives can learn from each other.
“Content creators are increasingly looking for a one-stop shop, a place that integrates their creative tools, allows them to share and learn from other professionals around the globe, and importantly, offers business opportunities. Creators’ Cloud is Sony’s answer to this, powered by AI,” notes the brand.
Features for now are limited, but Sony intends to expand the online suite over time. Creators’ Cloud will launch gradually in the US and other parts of the world.
