WhatsApp Could Soon Roll Out This New, Minimalist Interface Design
By Alexa Heah, 31 Aug 2023
Users of Android smartphones could soon see a different side to WhatsApp, as the text messaging service has recently unveiled a brand-new interface to beta testers.
Featuring updated Material 3 design elements, the app’s signature green bar at the top has turned white, while its name—now in the brand’s hue—takes on a different typeface at the top of the screen.

WhatsApp is working on a new interface for the white top app bar with a green app name, and it will be available in a future update of the app!

According to Android Police, the sleeker, more minimalist look still sees the navigation bar remain at the bottom, so there’ll be no big changes there.
However, it has added chat filters to make it more convenient to toggle between unread, personal, or business-related messages, which could come in handy when the platform allows for multi-account support.
Some users were curious about how this interface would appear in dark mode. I didn't post it because I think the light theme highlights the changes better.

As always, beta tests don’t tell the whole story, so it’s possible this revamped design could still change before it’s released to the public.
