Dyson is dusting off (pun intended) its archives and bringing forth a refreshing throwback colorway for its popular hair stylers: ‘Ceramic Pop’.
The cutesy option marks the 25th anniversary of the electronics giant’s entrance in the Japanese market. Why Japan, you ask? Well, it was where founder James Dyson debuted his first invention—the G-Force vacuum cleaner—when British investors failed to see its appeal. Who has the last laugh now?
A cheerful alternative to the metallic finish of many Dyson products, Ceramic Pop features a satiny-matte texture resembling unglazed ceramics.

Its candy hues of blush pink, topaz, and patina are now splashed across the popular Supersonic hair dryer, Airwrap multi-styler, and Corrale hair straightener.

The G-Force, the world’s first bagless vacuum cleaner, was the culmination of 5,127 prototypes. It flew off shelves in 1990s Japan for about US$2,000 a piece.
“With the royalties from G-Force sales, James Dyson was able to set up his own company,” the company explains. Hence, Dyson was born. The vacuum also won the 1991 International Design Fair prize, and paved the way for the firm’s next product, the Dual Cyclone.

The Ceramic Pop hair tools are now available in Japan, of course, as well as the US, South Korea, and China. Style enthusiasts living abroad will be delighted to know that the colorway will roll out globally over the rest of the year.
