Louis Vuitton or Phooey Vuitton? While “superfakes” are becoming rampant, one artificial intelligence checker used by luxury resellers promises to sniff out counterfeits with near perfection. Authenticity technology Entrupy is hoping to revolutionize the high-end fashion world by verifying products from renowned houses like Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hermès, Balenciaga, Prada, Loewe, and Celine, giving customers more peace of mind about investing in upmarket items.
The process is straightforward yet comprehensive: users take multiple photos of an item using their smartphone, slotted inside Entrupy’s device—which is built-in with a microscopic lens—to capture every aspect from the designer logo to the material texture. It’s recommended that they snap images from all angles for a more thorough check.
These pictures are then compared against a massive database of authentic and counterfeit goods. Within minutes, Entrupy can confirm the product’s legitimacy with a 99.1% accuracy rate and issue an official certificate, providing reassurance to both retailers and consumers.

Entrupy’s significance has been further highlighted through a partnership with TikTok, aiming to vet items on TikTok Shop.
Originally focused on handbags and small leather goods, the technology now covers products like sneakers, with plans to encompass an even broader range of luxury items. To keep up with ever-evolving counterfeit methods, the tool, too, is adapting and expanding.
The rise in sneaker return scams, propelled during the pandemic, is a growing concern for businesses. Fraudsters have become creative in taking advantage of policies, with common tactics including shipping back items that weigh about the same as the original product, sending back counterfeit copies, or old or damaged versions of the product. As these ploys become more sophisticated, retailers must find new methods of e-commerce innovation and fraud prevention to protect their businesses.
Currently exclusive to resellers, the technology aims to offer a definitive stamp of authenticity against the tide of counterfeit goods, redefining trust and integrity in the luxury market.
