WhatsApp is popping its green-hued bubble to introduce a dash of color to texting. Meta’s messaging app, long associated with the signature tone, is testing a new feature that lets users jazz up their chat screens with a choice of colors.
Until now, customization options in WhatsApp have been quite limited, with the app’s iconic green theme being a consistent element. However, a new update in the beta testing phase for iOS (version 24.1.10.70) will enable users to choose from five different color themes: green, blue, white, pink, and purple.

These options will splash across various elements of the WhatsApp interface, giving users a fresh take on their messaging experience that matches their vibrant personalities.
Visual alterations will be private, and these vivid changes will be exclusive to the user’s view. Other people in the same conversation will only be shown the scheme that they’ve selected for themselves.
Per WABetaInfo, WhatsApp might be considering extending these customization abilities even further—updates could potentially include the ability to change the color of chat bubbles.
While the app hasn’t spilled the beans on the official release date for the colorful feature, its presence in the beta version signals that a wider rollout could be on the horizon. And although it’s a small update, in a world of endless texts and emojis, why not make your conversational space a bit more you?
