Samsung is looking to have essential health insights wrapped around your finger with its latest innovation, the Galaxy Ring. Unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event, this discreet new gadget is set to add a touch of tech-savvy elegance to your fingertips, almost.
While Dr Matthew Wiggins, a clinical research scientist at Samsung Research, teased tech enthusiasts with a dynamic visual of the Galaxy Ring’s design at the keynote on Wednesday, the company is keeping the lid tight on most details. The Galaxy Ring marks the South Korean tech giant’s venture into the smart ring segment, a market currently buzzing with health and wellness tracking devices. It’s poised to be a strong contender against the likes of the Oura Ring.
Samsung has been toying around with the idea of a Galaxy Ring since way back in 2015. Last year, it filed a patent that could hint at some intriguing functions of the confirmed device, including an electrocardiogram and smart home controls.

Health tracking is expected to be a key feature of the Galaxy Ring, leveraging artificial intelligence for enhanced user experience. It’s likely to sync seamlessly with the Samsung Health app, which is purportedly getting an update with new functionalities like heart-rate alerts during sleep and a ‘My Vitality Score’ to gauge physical and mental readiness.
More specifics about features, pricing, and an official launch date are still under wraps, but all should come full circle (ahem) at the brand’s mid-year Unpacked event.
