As Burger King marks its 70th anniversary, the fast-food giant isn’t just blowing out birthday candles—it’s stoking the flames of passion, both in its kitchens and in a playful new advertising campaign out of Brazil.
Created by the brand and digital agency Room23, new visuals of old people getting touchy-feely and making out sizzle with the theme of enduring love, drawing a parallel to the chain’s longstanding commitment to flame-grilling since 1954.
The campaign cleverly juxtaposes the enduring flame of a long-term relationship with Burger King’s signature cooking technique. Through the lens of “old flames” who’ve managed to keep their passion alive through the decades, it mirrors the brand’s own history of keeping the grill lit for 70 years and counting.
Just like a timeless romance, Burger King’s flame-grilling method remains as hot and enticing as ever.
With the catchy headline, "70 years later the fire’s still burning,” the “kinky” (in the words of the agency) campaign wraps up by reminding everyone of what makes Burger King stand out in the crowded fast-food landscape.
