Tintin’s next adventures? On the soccer pitch. The beautiful game gets a touch of comic book whimsy this summer as the Belgian national football team’s away kit for Euro 2024, designed by Adidas, pays homage to one of the country’s most beloved cultural exports: Tintin, the intrepid young reporter created by Hergé.
Gone are the Red Devils’ customary fiery red hues. Instead, the players will be sporting a sky blue jersey with a crisp white collar, directly referencing Tintin’s signature attire. The shorts echo this color scheme with a rich brown shade, mirroring the character’s iconic plus fours. Completing the picture are classic white socks.
Sticking with tradition, the home front sees a different story. The home uniform continues the legacy of a luxurious dark shade of red, a color synonymous with the Red Devils. This year’s iteration features standout gold details, and to top it all off, a fashion-inspired graphic pattern is embossed in the jersey.
Tintin is a global phenomenon, with his adventures translated into over 100 languages and selling more than 270 million copies worldwide. By tapping into this established fanbase, the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) hopes to generate excitement for the national team not just in Belgium, but around the world.

The unveiling of the away kit in March was a playful affair, held at the Hergé Museum near Brussels. Models donned costumes of Tintin’s companions, Captain Haddock and Professor Sunflower, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. You can purchase both home and away editions on the Adidas Belgium and RFBA sites.
Whether the Tintin tribute translates to on-field success for the Red Devils remains to be seen. But one thing is for sure: Euro 2024 will see Belgium’s soccer stars looking as sharp as a ligne claire illustration.
