Japanese Corporate Firm Creates Metaverse ‘Moon’ For Workers To Mingle In

Team bonding in a company is an integral part of keeping the business afloat. One Japanese company, Daiwa Securities Group, is marrying bonding, education, and the metaverse together by creating its very own moon landing digital scape for its employees.
The virtual space was launched this past week to celebrate the brokerage company’s 120th anniversary, and it invited its workers and their families onto the virtual moon to join in on the festivities.
Daiwa has created its own internal metaverse not only as a social space for employees but also to educate them on this emerging new technology.
Employees will be able to create their own avatars, hang out at a lunar bar, and “drink” some cosmic beers with their colleagues. A theater in the moon-scape is also set up for CEO Seiji Nakata to host speeches, and a replica of the original headquarters has been digitized for workers to explore.
The virtual-reality landscape is right now mainly being used for entertainment purposes, with video games and environments primed for the eager user to navigate once they have donned their headset.
Brands and companies aplenty have taken to adapting to the metaverse, teaming up with various video gaming firms to create mini-games, islands, and even host weddings. According to management consulting firm McKinsey, US$120 billion has been invested into the metaverse by companies globally just this year alone.
