As part of Discovery Channel’s Shark Week series Air Jaws: Ultimate Breach, wildlife photographer Chris Fallows traveled to South Africa to snap the best photo of a shark breach, which happens when a shark jumps out of the water to catch agile prey like seals.
The show gathered various experts to compete for the best photography work of shark breaches. One of the contestants used a drone, while another chose to shoot at night.
Fallows decided to use a tow camera, and the results were magnificent. His photograph showed a great white shark leaping around 15 feet from the water, making it a new record for the television show.
“They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, that picture is worth a thousand breaches. I can't believe how high it came out, it was just perfect…a photo you dream of,” Fallows said of his photographs. “This has to be the ultimate air jaws breach.”
Earlier this week, boxing legend Mike Tyson challenged himself and put a shark into tonic immobility underwater for Discovery Channel’s Shark Week special, Tyson vs. Jaws: Rumble on the Reef..
